It was named after former Atlanta mayors like William Hartsfield and it is owned by the Atlanta city The airport is the largest and one of the busiest in the world covering an area of 4,700acres of land and a floor space of 230,000squaremetres.It has 5 pararrel runways,two terminals and 195gates.
Construction of the airport cost $500million and it started on 1977 and first terminal was opened for operation in 1980 to the public.It is operated by Atlanta Department of Aviation.It records and gets 1,000 flights to 225 international destinations per day, over 42 Million passengers and a total of over 500 operations per year. The scenic airport offers international services to the whole of America,Europe,Africa and Asia continents.It hosts the largest airline hub in the world called Delta airlines and small ones like Frontier and Southeast airlines.
