Indian-Kenyans who had been in India flew back to Kenya before the travel ban took effect as the last flight from India into the country arrived. The Kenya Airways flight KQ 213 with a total of 197 passengers arrived shortly after 7:00 pm. All the passengers underwent a rapid covid-19 test before being cleared to leave the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Today, India recorded three thousand nine hundred and sixty eight deaths; he highest deaths in a single day. The last flight from India arrived at JKIA amid tight security all through the airport with safety and orderliness given priority since the passengers were coming from a country that is currently hardest hit by coronavirus.
The passengers were required to undergo a rapid covid-19 test and to facilitate the exercise, health officials assisted by the KDF officers took less time to do it.
Each passenger was required to wait for their negative results before proceeding to get cleared to leave the airport. One Indian lauded the right decision by the government of Kenya to save people.
The government of Kenya said, flights to and fro, India will only resume once the spread of the new variant in India is under control.
