Cost Of 4.88 Kgs Of Undeclared Gold And Jewellery That Was Smuggled From Kenya To Mumbai (Photos)

Kenya revenue authority is an agency of the government of Kenya responsible for collection, assessment and accounting of all revenues collected in the country. Meanwhile, being an independent institution, it's mandated to ensure all Kenyans, business owners disclose their wealth to enable her ascertain criteria in which all people or institution adhere to the rules of tax payment.

However, according to the sources the customs officers last night intercepted approximately 4.88 kilograms of undeclared gold and jewellery worth Ksh. 31 million that was being smuggled through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

This was after Customs Officers stationed at JKIA identified a group of approximately 30 female Kenyan travellers who were departing from Nairobi to Mumbai, India through Doha. The travellers are directly associated to three female travellers earlier intercepted entering Mumbai with approximate 1 kg of gold concealed internally on 19th August, 2021.

According to the post shared by the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) encourages passengers to declare all cargo/items at the Ports of entry and exit as required under the provisions of the Second and Third Schedules of the EAC Customs Management Act, 2004.
