Government Finally Allows Miguna to Travel to Kenya

Miguna Miguna will be issued travel documents after filling out the relevant procedures, according to Solicitor General Ken Ogeto.

In a letter to Miguna's lawyer, Nelson Havi, Ogeto stated that the Attorney General's office instructed the Immigration Department to provide him travel permits once he filled out the forms in accordance with court orders.

On November 23, Lady Justice Hedwig Ong'udi decided that the lawyer living in Canada should apply for emergency travel permits at the Kenyan High Commission in Canada or at an embassy wherever he is.

"No one has prevented him from traveling to Kenya, but he must receive the necessary Kenyan travel permits within 72 hours after which he must be allowed to board the next available flight," ong'udi said.

The judge ordered that Miguna, like any other Kenyan, must follow immigration laws in order to get necessary travel documents and should not insist on using his national identity card.

She argued that after receiving an emergency pass from any Kenyan high commission or embassy, he should be allowed to travel on any aircraft and just need his identity card for immigration clearance.

Miguna should apply for a new Kenyan passport once he is granted entrance, according to Justice Ong'udi.
