One of the requirements of a town in Kenya to be awarded a city status is that it must have an international airport which will make it easy to access it but Nakuru which was recently awarded a city status by the Senate does not have one, so the county government of Nakuru has been burning the midnight oil to make sure that it gets one.
The county government of Nakuru with the help of the national government is currently upgrading the Lanet airstrip into an international airport, the airport upon completion is expected to cost a total of 3 billion Kenya shillings where the World Bank has given out some portion of the money to make the project a reality.
Upon completion Lanet Airport will become one of the best airports in Kenya, the first phase is expected to be over by August 2022 while the rest will be continued later.
