Infographic: Chaos Outbreak at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, JKIA (VIDEO)

On Saturday, May 22, chaos erupted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after police officers arrested several passengers.

Passengers who allegedly did not have proof of lodging at their destinations were arrested.

In a one-minute and twenty-four-second video, passengers are seen being dragged outside the terminal by officers while other passengers mock them.

When passengers show their hotel vouchers, proof of sponsorship, or a tour guide receipt to show that they have a legal reason for flying to their destination, this is referred to as proof of accommodation.

It also demonstrates that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in the destination country.

Different countries have different requirements that must be met before a passenger can board a flight to their destination.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kenyan government has tightened travel restrictions in order to limit disease spread.

All passengers must carry proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours of flying, which can be verified digitally through the Trusted Travel Initiative (TT) and PanaBios systems.

Earlier on Saturday, radio host Gidi Ogigi (Gidi Gidi) revealed that on May 19, 2021, an airline locked him out at the boarding gate.

He explained that he was forced to give up his seat and return home, missing his daughter's birthday party in France.

The incident was caused by a last-minute hiccup in accordance with the new Covid-19 regulations.
