Mobile Operators Deactivate 287,214 SIM Cards Registered With Wrong National IDs

Kenyans have been dealt a major blow after mobile operators diactivated Sim Cards which had been registered with wrong National Identity Cards.

The Communications Authority of Kenya hads indicates that 287,214 Sim Cards which had been registered using the wrong Identity Cards have been diactivated

The Communication Authority of Kenya has underscored the diactivation of the above stated number of SIM Cards has reduced the number of active mobile subscribers from 64.9 million to 64.7 million.

The Authority maintained that the SIM cards were diactivated in order to mitigate the misuse of SIM cards for criminal activities.

It is essentially worth noting that the Communication Authority of Kenya announced the 15th day of October, 2022 as the deadline date for registration of all Sim Cards.

The authority stated that all Sim Cards which will not be fully registered on or before the deadline date will be disconnected.
