In a secure, standard Management Information system or Rather Online Database system, the principle of least privilege is when the administrator of the system allocates other users' roles and access Rights based on what they are authorized to see on a specific portion of the system. In short, one cannot have the right to delete, Update, or Insert any data when this principle is at work.
And now coming back to what makes our headline, Reports hitting news airwaves as reported by the Nation indicate that the IEBC unlike last time when it refused to give out login credentials has assured Ruto, Raila among other Presidential candidates that their agents will be issued with User login details for the Monitoring of the Results Transmission Systems (RTS) on Tuesday.
According to Chebukati, Ruto, and Raila Kenyans at large shouldn't be concerned about the new move since agents will only be allowed to monitor the results transmission via the Application Programming Interface (API) and not in the Real System.
“Because of the mistrust we experienced in the last general elections, we have put in place a situation where all political parties will have accounts logged into the system.
“We will give access to the API to the presidential candidates so that they can be able to access these results and they can tabulate their own from our portal,” he said.
