Major Mpesa Shutdown Announced By Safaricom Including Airtime Purchase

Telecommunications service provider Safaricom has announced the maintenance of its MPESA services in order to ensure it meets the demands and needs of its customers.

In a statement released on Monday, October 18, Safaricom listed the need to constantly transform its services as the reason behind the MPESA maintenance


“To support this continued transformation, we regularly undertake enhancements and maintenance of our systems from time time,” the service provider stated.

“In this regard, our MPESA services shall be undergoing planned maintenance on Tuesday 19 October 2021, starting from 2359hrs to Wednesday 0400 hours,” Safaricom said.


Many across the internet have expressed their worries for the long hours interface that will take place on Mashujaa eve.

However Safaricom has been assuring its unbound customers of excellent services and this is one of measures to enable hood service delivery.

Kenya is one of the leading countries that uses mobile money transfers on a daily basis, a huge number will suffer though the maintenance is planned to take place at night.

Fraud amongst other things have been affecting mobile money transfers around the world.

However the giant companies have been working day and night to help curb cyberspace crime.
