The Kenya power and lightning company is the sole provider of power in Kenya. Their monopolistic nature makes them one of the lowest rate in service delivery. The KPLC has been operating on losses before the government intervention was made. Now, the company recent move to supply internet connectivity to the rural areas have attracted the netizens reactions.
Majority of the netizens feel the company has failed in it's mission of supplying affordable electricity connectivity and now want to venture into a field they wount manage. In rural areas electricity connectivity is beyond the reach by many and remain a privilege for the rich and those in power. One netizen complained of how the charges to connect electricity moved from 60k to 90k during president Uhurus time in power, this is despite it being in the list of his top agendas.
