Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has once again insisted that Donny van de Beek will have a part to play in the Premier League this season despite yet another snub during the draw against Chelsea
Donny van de Beek has no purpose at Manchester United following his summer move from Ajax.
That is the critical view of Premier League winning defender Patrice Evra, who cannot understand why his former club paid £40m for a player that will not have an active role in first-team proceedings.
Despite scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace, the 23-year-old has been named on the bench against each of Brighton, Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea, and didn’t appear at all in the latest fixture.
That disappointment came after he only played for two minutes against PSG in the Champions League.
Speaking about the draw, Evra said: “This was a safety game. They played with a safety jacket.
“I’m not about that I am about entertainment and playing without fear. I’m not surprised Chelsea's best player was Thiago Silva and Manchester United’s was Lindelof.
"You cannot say this game is a big game anymore, both teams are not fighting for the title.
"I am not surprised this game was a draw. They have conceded a lot of goals but the fans will not understand that. Would they play the same game with the stadium full of fans?
Before turning his attention to the Netherlands international by adding: "Why have we bought Van de Beek? He’s just watching from the stands. We didn’t need him and that’s the truth.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was again asked for his plans regarding the midfielder following the match, and he stood firm with his previous assessment by saying: "Don't worry about that.
"He'll get his games. Don't worry about that.
"It's easy to say who should be playing and more difficult to say who shouldn't."
The Norwegian said when the signing was confirmed in September: "Donny has all of the technical attributes needed to perform in this team and has the personality required to succeed at Manchester United,His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will really complement the qualities that we have in midfield and his arrival really strengthens the depth of talent we have in that position."
With the player adding: “I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.
"This team has some of the best midfielders in the world and I know that I can learn from them and also bring my own strengths to the group.”kindly follow me give the article a like share it to your friends and leave a comment on what you want me to get you next don't forget to follow me at the top right corner click there for more news updates.
