The Betking Kenyan Premier League was on break due to COVID-19 protocols put in place. 7 weeks later the league was given the green light to continue. Of the teams in the league I will talk about the defending champions Gor Mahia. Gor have been blowing hot and cold this season and many have dismissed them from lifting the current league title but can they still lift it?
Personally I cannot dismiss them even though they are 12 points from league leaders, Tusker, they can still try to change their fortunes in the next 16 games.
Taking one game at a time, may be the trick strategy Gor Mahia should adopt. This one game at a time strategy is effective as they will be putting full focus on winning the game at hand, playing each game as a final.
In their first match after the league resumption, Gor Mahia managed to beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0 with a goal scored by their midfielder, Karim. Their next match is against Sofapaka. Sofapaka were also victorious against Wazito, in a match Sofapaka won 2-0. Sofapaka will be a hard opponent for Gor Mahia but I believe if they play the game as a final they will fight for the 3 points and reduce the 12 point gap, this coming Thursday.
If not Gor which team did you believe was going to win the KPL at the beginning of the season?
