Football action returned on Wednesday night in Europe. Football fans were happy as they could once again enjoy their favorite team play in the midweek. However, much attention was focused on the EFL competition that involved teams from all leagues in England play each other.
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer and his Manchester United side hosted David Moyes's side West Ham United at Old Trafford in a fixture that was seen as last Sunday's replay. The two sides had earlier clashed at London Stadium where Manchester United walked away with all the three points.
West Ham United opened the scoring in the first half of the after Manuel Lanzini found the back of the net in the 9th minute. The Red Devils attempted to launch a comeback but all their efforts were futile as David Moyes's men formed a strong defensive line that was very difficult to break. The defeat meant that Manchester United was out of the competition as early as possible.
However, despite the heartbreak of the defeat, Manchester United fans flocked social media platforms to praise their star midfielder after displaying a good game. Netherlands international Donny Van De Beek impressed Manchester United after proving that he should not be spending his time on the bench.
The former Ajax man created open chances, made tackles as he dominated the entire midfield. The majority of Manchester United fans urged Ole Gunnar Solkjaer to immediately bench Fred and hand Van De Been a chance to revive his career.
Van De Beek is one of the top midfielders in Europe especially during his campaign in Ajax where he led his side to a semi-final finish. He has not started a single premier league game this season.
