Tong-Il Moo-Do commonly abbreviated as TIMD, this is a sport that unifies all the techniques used in other martial arts. The purpose of TIMD is to forge mature characters out of promising talent and to draw upon the training to give back to the community through peaceful co-existence and love towards one another.
Kenya is one of those countries where the sport is attracting followers from every socioeconomic background to the point of overshadowing other martial arts. This year Kenya is set Hosting Jasiri and 11 foreign teams in Mombasa for the event that was supposed to start on Friday at Aga Khan Academy.
“The government has been funding the tournament and we submitted our budget in good time. We feel betrayed as a country despite using the tournament to boost the country’s tourism sector,” said the federation’s president Clarence Mwakio.
However, the ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Director, Cultural Diplomacy Ann Wanjohi had assured the team on Friday that the event will go on as planned.
The foreign teams include China, India, Japan, USA, Korea, Philippines, Zambia, Brazil, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Korea and Cote D’ivoire.
