It was another weekend another time for our Kenyan footballers to represent us in the different leagues abroad.
In Zambia our boy Jesse Were had a weekend to remember. Jesse who features for a Zambian Super League club, Zesco, featured in the 7-2 thrashing of Buildcon. Of Zesco's 7 goals Jesse scored 4 to remind people how good he is and why he is the King of Ndola. Zesco's other goals were scored by Rusike, Chishimba and Mkwandire, while Buildcon got their 2 goals through Mwila's brace.
In the USL, Phil Mayaka, on Saturday, got a chance to feature for Colorado Springs' match against New Mexico. Springs won the match 3-1 in a match they had to make a come back in the second half. Mayaka, a 2016 KSSA Champion, was introduced into the match in the 78th minute to replace Backford. Springs' got their goals through Backford and Barry(who scored a brace) while Siggs scored New Mexico's only goal.
Amos Nondi, a former Gor Mahia midfielder, was also in action for the full 90 minutes of Dila Gori's match this weekend. Dila Gori were playing Samtredia in a match they managed to comfortably win 2-1. Dila Gori's goals were scored by Kapanadze and Kamara, while Samtredia got their consolation goal through Lomtadze.
Elsewhere in the CAF Champions League, Anthony Akumu is set to get an opportunity to feature in the CAF Champions League final, this is after Kaizer Chiefs eliminated Wydada. Kaizer Chiefs played their second leg semifinal match against Wyadada on Saturday evening, in a match which ended in a barren draw, a draw which Kaizer Chiefs needed as they had a 1-0 lead from their first leg semifinal match. Akumu did not feature for Kaizer Chiefs, but we should hope just like the first leg Semifinal match, he will be recalled in the Champions League final match squad.
There were many Kenyan football stars who were on top of their game this weekend. I may have only featured a few, u can leave a comment on the comments section, of other Kenyan players who impressed you this weekend.
