Bamkuu, The Kenyan Wonderkid, Destined For Greatness After Signing A Contract With French Outfit

Fweisal Bamkuu is the latest Kenyan footballer to make his way to Europe, having signed with French club La Berrishonne de Chateauroux. The youngster is from Kizingitini in Lamu and, against all odds, he was able to harness his football skills to the point where French scouts were impressed with him, with the results now visible after being unveiled as a La Berrichonne player on Friday morning.

In his first official interview with the French Outfit, Bamkuu credited his move to France to Umra Omar, a Kenyan humanitarian and community conservation strategist who went above and beyond to help him get the move. Bamkuu promised Umra and everyone else who looked up to him that he would stay focused and not let them down.

"I am happy to be here and I believe that I will make it. I urge my fellow youth back at home to continue working hard and the doors will open. I cannot thank Madam Umra enough for the role she played in getting me this opportunity," Bamkuu said

Bamkuu is the first of the many Kenyan players who could go and flourish in France, as Ligue 1's Lyon is also going to open the gates for Kenyan youngsters to play abroad. This is in line with Lyon's partnership with Rova Academy, a Kenyan soccer academy, which was signed last year.
