Arsenal Have Bruno Fernandes To Thank After His Goal Made Sure Their Record Isn't Broken

Man City headed into Sunday's Etihad match 14 points clear of their adversaries and off the rear of a 21-match win across all competitions.

Fernandes' most recent strike didn't just demonstrate significance with regards to putting the guests ahead in the derby. But it prevented the city from breaking Arsenal's record.

Man City haven't trailed for a minute in any of their last 19 Premier League games – equalling Arsenal's record of 19 successive games without falling behind, set between December 1998-May 1999.

United's quickfire opener tonight, however, obviously stopped City's run with prompt impact, with the Blues forced to manage with joint ownership for the long-standing record.

As important an outcome as this might be for Solskjaer and his players, it doesn't inhale new life into the Premier League title race. United narrowed the gap still City stay 11 points clear.
