Manchester City played Liverpool in the English Football League (EFL) on Thursday night at the Etihad Stadium. The two teams were looking for a good result to boost moral heading into the restart of the Premier League after the world cup break. Manchester City opened the scoring through a well struck Erling Haaland goal after a wonderful assist from Kelvin de Bruyne. Liverpool, however equilized in the 20th minute when Carvalho scored, first half ending 1-1.
The game continued to excite in the second half as Mahrez scored 2 minutes after the start of the second half. Mohamed Salah got his name on the score board with an equilizer for Liverpool.
Nathan Ake got the winning goal for the Citizens as the game ended in a 3-2 win. Manchester City progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup while Liverpool were eliminated.
City will now turn their attentions to the English Premier League as they sit second place in the table. 5 points behind leaders Arsenal.
