In the past few years, ladies football in Kenya has been on a fast growth especially after the women national football team Harambee Starlets marked their debut at the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) back in 2016.Quite a good number of this footballers have gone international and there is another addition in that list.
Barely a week after Harambee Starlets goalkeeper, Lilian Awuor's move to a France top tier league club Soyaux, her Harambee Starlets counterpart Jentrix Shikangwa has finally left the country for Turkey to complete her move to Fatih Karagumruk Sportif.
Shikangwa left the country on Sunday January 23rd, 2022.The 20 years old forward played a huge role as Vihiga Queens became the first club from East Africa to play in the CAF Women Champions League.She was crucial in the tournament as well as Vihiga Queens managed one win.
After her debut in Turkey, she will become the second Kenyan woman to have ever played in the league.This is after Esse Akida who had stints with Besiktas some years back.Do you think Shikangwa has all it takes to become Europe's finest?
