His honest admission came during the time he was giving his verdict on the hotly contented race between the Citizens and Reds from Mersyside.
And any football fan can honestly admit that Manchester city under the management of coaching guru Pep Guardiola is the most feared club in Premier league currently.
But Rio is having a different opinion. Despite giving Manchester City a competitive advantage to win the Premier League this season over Liverpool, the former defender strongly believes Liverpool under the management of Jurgen Klopp is a club that is feared by other rival managers.
Speaking on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand says that the fear is evident in other clubs anytime they play against Jurgen Klopp's side Liverpool.
"You can see that within this Liverpool team and you feel the fear in other teams when they come up against them with how they play and the way that they gain that momentum."
To support his statements, Rio says that the confidence in Liverpool players that translates to momentum makes them a feared club in the Premier League.
