Hello Gooner, you know, here's what's up at Arsenal today.
It is widely assumed that Arsenal will sign a central midfielder this summer. Youri Tielemans is one midfielder who has been linked with a move to the Emirates. According to reports, Arteta has specifically requested that Arsenal sign the Belgian midfielder. According to HITC, the 25-year-old is also interested in joining Arsenal. If HITC's claims are correct, a move for Tielemans would be as simple as ABC, given Leicester's willingness to sell him. (HITC)
With Nketiah and Lacazette set to depart, Arteta also wants to start next season with a reliable striker. So far, all indications point to Gabriel Jesus as Arteta's top striker target, and he could be this dependable striker. When Arsenal failed to secure a place in next season's Champions League, a move for Gabriel Jesus appeared to be in jeopardy.
Caught Offside, on the other hand, claims that Jesus' move to Arsenal is still alive and well. According to Terry Flewers, as quoted by Caught Offside, "Arsenal’s pursuit of Jesus is gathering momentum following talks over a deal."
Arteta, who worked with Gabriel at Manchester City, should know how to make him a success at the Emirates, but whether he's the ideal number nine for Arsenal remains to be seen. (Caught Offside)
