Kenyan Defender Joseph Okumu Signs A Four Year Contract With Belgian Side Gent

Kenya defender Joseph Okumu has signed a long-term contract with Belgian side Gent after moving from Swedish side IF Elsborg.

Gent have taken to their official website to confirm that Okumu has signed a four year-contract with the club and will run until 2025.

The Belgian club expressed their confidence in the 24 year old saying that he will strengthen their defence come next season.



Joseph Okumu has played for Kenyan club Chemelil Sugar as a centre-back, Free State Stars of South Africa, AFC Ann Arbor and Real Monarchs in the United States and Swedish club Elfsborg where his performance attracted clubs like Lorient and Reims of France,and Rangers and Celtic of Scotland.

The player nicknamed crouch has also had a perfect run in the National team Harambee Stars having impressed in the matches that he has featured for them.

Okumu goes down in history as the third Kenyan to play for the Gent after Robert Mambo and John Muiruri who also played for Harambee Stars in the midfield.
