Barcelona Displaces Real Madrid at Position 2 in La Liga Table After Winning 1-0 against Valladolid

Barcelona saw off Real Valladolid 1-0 at Camp Nou to seal all the 3 points & complete Laliga double over the club. Barcelona previously won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Valladolid hence were clear favourites to edge Real at Camp Nou. Barcelona come into the fixture in the back of a 6-1 victory over Real Sociadad in their most recent Laliga fixture while Real Valladolid drew 1-1 against Sevilla before the international break. Barcelona opened the first half more dorminant in ball possession & counter attacks with Messi, Griezzmann & Braithwaite missing several open chances to force a goalless first half. Barcelona pushed for a winner in second half & had to dig deep inorder to score at stoppage time through Ousimane Dembele who was assisted by Araujo to seal all the 3 points for the hosts.

Real Madrid won their matchday 29 fixture 2-0 against Eibar, courtesy of Karim Benzema & Asensio brilliant goals to seal all the 3 points on Saturday last week. Real Madrid had temporarily moved up to position 2 with 63 points awaiting for Barcelona to play Valladolid on Monday night. Following the 1-0 win, Barcelona displaced Real Madrid to position 3 as the Catalonians climb up to 2nd in the La Liga Table with 65 points; only 1 point behind current leaders Atletico Madrid who lost 1-0 to 4th placed Sevilla. Barcelona will take on Real Madrid on Sunday in the most anticipated El Clasico as both clubs look forward to dethrone Atletico Madrid at the top of the summit.
