While addressing the press on Friday ahead of the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, Mikel Arteta was asked whether his squad had a deep understanding of what the upcoming match meant to the club's history.
According to Mikel Arteta, the match against Nuno Espirinto Santo's side is the most special game of the season to be played at the Emirates Stadium, and he believes that even the supporters understands the same.
" It's the most special game of the season at home, that's for sure. We know how much it means for our supporters as well."
The Spaniard revealed that the Gunners players understands the importance to winning the North London derby, since Tottenham Hotspur is one of their most top rivals in the Premier League, and if they don't know, he promised to make them aware.
Arteta says that he want the players to play the Sunday match with slightly different skin, claiming that their is a little bit more at a stake.
" They do and I will make sure they understand what it means. They have to play that game with slightly different skin, because there's a little bit more at stake."
The Gunners have been dominating in the last North London derbies they have played recently, and Mikel Arteta will be keen to see his side record another convincing victory against their top rivals on Sunday.
