Leipzig vs Liverpool
This is certainly not the kind of form Liverpool would have been hoping to carry into this game as since the group stage, things have gone incredibly downhill for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Indeed, The Reds started this season strongly, losing just twice in 20 matches across all competitions when including their draw with Arsenal in the Community Shield, though since their draw with Midtjylland in the final group game they’ve gone just W5-D4-L6 across all competitions, including five defeats from their last seven matches.
Leipzig have maintained their title challenge and sit just four points behind leaders Bayern Munich, even if Hansi Flick’s side do have a game in hand.
They’ve still only lost three times in the league this season and did extremely well to qualify from a group that included both PSG and Man United in this competition, beating both of those sides at home in the process, so they’re more than capable of taking a lead into the second leg.
The big factor working against the German side in this leg however, is the fact that this game will be played in Budapest instead of the Red Bull Arena where Leipzig have an incredible record.
They’ve picked up five more points than any other side in the Bundesliga on home soil, winning 13 of their 15 such matches in all competitions, though their away form leaves a lot to be desired with just a W7-D4-L4 record on the road.
