Kante began his fame after he became the first player to win successful EPL trophies with different clubs(Leicester and Chelsea) in 2016 and 2017 respectively. He has since then won the World cup, FA Cup, Europa League, and recently the Champions League trophy.
Speaking ahead of Euro 2020 that is set to begin this week, Rooney argued that Kante has the skills of Manchester City defender Yaya Toure and former Chelsea midfielder Claudio Makelele but has more energy on the pitch than they had. He noted that Kante is good at breaking play in the midfield while at the same time protecting Chelsea's defense line.
"For me, he is the best midfielder in the world. It’s unbelievable to have a footballer who is Toure and Makelele rolled into one — and then there’s Kante’s energy", Wayne Rooney said.
Kante is among the France squad that will play Euro 2020 and he will be hoping to steer the team to this year's trophy after they lost it to Portugal in 2016 with a 1-0 scoreline.
