Chelsea failed to beat 13-times champions of Europe Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. Despite the Blues having a good record against the Los Blancos, they couldn't get good results.
They knocked Real Madrid out of the competition last season in the semi-finals when they ended up becoming champions of Europe. The Blues had more possession but they couldn't break down Carlo Ancelotti's men in the entire match and get a draw or a win.
Thomas Tuchel had started a strong side but they couldn't manage to get a win with Karim Benzema emerging as the best player in the match after his remarkable hat-trick. The German boss was hoping to get better results at the Bridge but the Los Blancos were too good to beat.
Real Madrid's midfield looked stronger and the likes of N'golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic couldn't beat the visitors in midfield. German midfielder Toni Kroos was outstanding in the match and he ensured Kante and Mount didn't create anything or score a goal.
He is 32-years-old but he is dominating matches, creating chances, and scoring goals for Real Madrid. Kroos was one of the best players at Stamford Bridge yesterday creating some brilliant chances for his team.
Mount and Kante struggled against the German international who is still at the top of his game in his early 30s. Chelsea might fail to qualify for the next round as they have two goals deficit and winning at Santiago Bernabéu has never been easy for any team.
