Who will emerge the premier league top scorer?.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah remains the favourite in Premier League top scorer list despite going a fifth game without a top-flight goal.
The Egypt international did play a part in Liverpool’s goal in their 1-0 win at Wolves, with former Molineux favourite Diogo Jota netting on the stroke of half-time.
Salah, who won this award in 2017/18 and shared the honours the following season, managed to keep his lead as only two players in the top 10 were on target over the weekend.
The offside flag and the width of the post denied Harry Kane the chance to move level on 17 goals with Salah as 10-man Tottenham lost 2-1 at Arsenal in the north London derby.
Team-mate Son Heung-min has eased out to after suffering a muscle injury and having to be replaced after just 17 minutes.
Boss Jose Mourinho said afterwards: “I don’t know how long it is. It’s muscular. Muscular is always not easy. He’s a guy who normally recovers very well from any kind of injury.
“It’s an accumulation of matches. In the Europa League, I gave him 30 minutes rest so 90 minus 30 is 60 but 60 is still 60. When you are in so many competitions, this is something that can happen.”
Bruno Fernandes also stayed on 16 strikes although his corner did lead to Craig Dawson’s own goal which earned Manchester United a 1-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin moved on to 14 goals with a consolation strike in Everton’s 2-1 home defeat by Burnley which dented their top-four aspirations.
Jamie Vardy may have been kept off the scoresheet in Leicester’s 5-0 thumping of managerless Sheffield United but two assists made him only the sixth player with 100 goal involvements in the Premier League after turning 30.
Former Tottenham and Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham leads the way for goals and assists combined after that age with 127, with Frank Lampard, IanWright, Alan Shearer and Gianfranco Zola also in three figures.
Leicester’s three-pronged attack of Kelechi Iheanacho, Vardy and Ayoze Perez earned the praise of manager Brendan Rodgers after they put the Blades to the sword at the King Power Stadium.
Iheanacho scored his first Premier League hat-trick, with two of the goals set up by Vardy, while Perez’s strike and an Ethan Ampadu own goal sealed the win.
“I’m delighted (for Iheanacho),” said Rodgers. “I’ve said I can see improvement in him and day on day he trains so hard.
“Him up there with Jamie (Vardy) is a really good combination. It was three good finishes, he’s clever and drops into space we want him to but overall his contribution tactically and overall game was very good.
“The combination of him, Jamie and Ayo (Ayoze Perez) was outstanding. Jamie may not have scored but he was influential for us.”
The race is therefore still open for any striker as the teams are lft with eight matches to end the season.
