Olympic Marseille have decided to part ways with manager Andres Villas Boas, just moments after the Portuguese tactician confirmed his submission of resignation letter to the board.
Confirming the dismissal of the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager, top of the official statement from the club read: "The Olympique de Marseille announces the dismissal as a conservatory of Andre Villas-Boas. This protective decision has become inevitable given the recent repetition of actions and attitudes which are seriously damaging to the Marseille Olympic institution and it's employees who defend it daily."
In his pre-match press conference that was carried out earlier today, Villas Boas said that he wanted to leave the club after the board decided to sign Celtic midfielder Oliver Ntcham without his concent despite him telling them not to pursue the transfer. In addition, the former Premier League boss blasted the club for lack of sporting strategies.
Villas-Boas took charge at the Stade Velodrome back in 2019 and has been a huge hit during his spell at the club though he has struggled to take the club back to the top in the current season with the Olympians lagging in the ninth position, 16 points adrift of league leaders Lille hence his sacking could be much welcomed by a section of fans who wanted him gone.
