Argentina became world champions for a third time this past Sunday after beating France.
All the praise was on Lionel Messi who finally managed to win all available trophies football has to offer. However the unsung heroes in this historic triumph were Julian Alvarez and Angel Di Maria.Alvarez was prolific in front of goal scoring four goals in the competition. His goals helped Argentina qualify for the quarter finals and most importantly the finals where they won.At just 22 years old,he is well on track to succeed Messi once he retires.Di Maria is not only Argentina's unsung hero in this competition but also throughout his career with them.He scored in the final becoming the only player in history to score in all finals of major international tournaments.
Di Maria scored in the Olympics finals,Copa America finals,Finalissima finals and now the world cup final. It is because of him that Argentina have managed to win all these trophies.
