Chelsea Set To Miss Edouard Mendy For One Month

Chelsea is set to miss the service of their first choice goalkeeper in January. The Senegalese is supposed to be out of Chelsea squad for the whole of January when he will be attending international duty in Africa Cup of Nation.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Cameroon starting from 9 January to 6 February. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in June and July 2021 but the CAF announced on 15 January 2020 that due to unfavourable climatic conditions during this period, the tournament would take place from 9 January to 6 February 2021.

It was later shifted to take place from January 9 to February 6 due to Coronavirus pandemic across the world which hindered the interaction and football activities across the globe.

FIFA have reminded Africa players who are outside the country with respective clubs to take preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nation which will start soon. Mendy will miss great Chelsea matches in UCL campaign and EPL clashes.
