Veteran football commentator Peter Drury has parted ways with Supersport and has joined American based media company NBC. This implies that Drury will no longer commentate on premier league matches.
Drury has had iconic poetic commentaries while commentating that made fans and all stakeholders love him. He started his commentary art in 1998 and since he has blessed his viewers and fans with many poetic commentary pieces.
While in England,he commentated over bigger matches and even the world cup as in the case of 2014 where he commentated the final match between Germany and Argentina. Below are some of his two iconic commentaries
"Roma have risen from their ruins... Manolas the Greek God in Rome. The unthinkable unfolds before our eyes...
"It is a Greek from Mount Olympus who has come to the seven hills of Rome and pulled off a miracle." When Manolas equalised for Roma in 2019 UCL round of 16
"Staggering, just staggering! He's won the league with 90 seconds of stoppage time to play. It's just the most extraordinary scenario you could have dreamt up. Where does football go from here?" When Aguero scores the third goal against QPR and city won the league.
His close friend of whom they are known of working together confirmed Drury's departure on twitter. "I see news has finally spread about Peter Drury joining NBC. He’ll be missed at PLP." Jim Beglin wrote on twitter. This brings to an end the commentary era that lasted close to 25 years.
