Ten Hag Reveals Last Minute Call that Prevented Manchester United Star from Joining Arsenal

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has revealed what transpired in the last transfer window.

Erik Ten Hag who was looking to strengthen the Red devils after joining them from Ajax was looking for a central defender among other positions.

Ajax were willing to let go of Martinez. The Central Midfielders was being eyed by various Premier league clubs amongst them being Arsenal.

Speaking to football journalist Freek Jansen, the former Ajax manager opened up on his last minute call with the Argentine.

"Lisandro Martinez called me and said: I will leave Ajax. I can sign for Arsenal but if you want me, I will go to Manchester United," he said.

He also spoke on Antony. It was clear that the youngster no longer wanted to stay at Ajax.

"Antony? In January Ajax already knew he would leave in the summer," he added.

The manager used his good relationship with Ajax and the players to negotiate a successful transfer that saw the two players land at Old Trafford.

Now that the world cup is over, players have started returning to Carrington training ground.

The Devils will host Burnley today in FA cup match.
