The Condition that Claimed the Life of Kenya Famous Kadenge

Joe Kadenge was born in the year 1935 in Soliani village, Hamisi Sub County in Vihiga County.

He was a Kenyan football player and coach. He was also one of the greatest football talents in the country.

Joe Kadenge started his professional career in the Nakuru All stars and played for Harambee Stars for 14 remarkable years. In the 60s he played for Maragoli United where he held the record for the fastest ever goal scored in the Kenyan Premier League.

Kadenge was considered as the most decorated player in Kenyan history and as a sports legend. He was also a sublime footballer who applied his talent fully in the service of his country.

'Kadenge na mpira’, was the famous sports commentary, made by legendary broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela which popularised and made Joe Kadenge and his homespun talent, a household name.

He was a father to Oscar Kadenge and the late Francis (both footballers) who was a striker for Harambee Stars for 14 years.

In the year 2006, Kadenge suffered a stroke. He suffered a second stroke in February 2019 and died on 7 July 2019, aged 84.
