Opinion: Mikel Arteta Might Face this Dilemma Ahead of Bournemouth Clash

Against Bournemouth this weekend, Arteta might be tempted to start playing Tomiyasu at Right Back bearing in mind that his fitness, to this point, is not doubted. This is after the Japanese full-back player come on at late second half to make appearance during the previous game against Leicester, helping his team in securing the second win of this season.

The Benefit of employing Tomiyasu at Right Back comes along with the fact that the chemistry between Tomiuasu and Saka works so perfectly. Bukayo Saka, in the previous Season 2021/22, was a 'hot lava' to most defenders. This has not been the case in the pre-season games and even in the two Premier League opening matches against Crystal Palace and Leicester City respectively. Maybe we can begin to see Saka's offensive play back sooner with the return of Tomiyasu.

This doesn't mean White's efforts are to be despised, after all He covered the void that Tomiyasu had left after being out with fitness issues. White has been top but it is worth understanding that he isn't perfect with full-back role because that's not his preferred position. Consequently, this has always seen Saka more of a defensive player rather than being at the same offensive rate as Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

For a player to Excell at both left and right forward flanks, they must have a good chemistry with the corresponding fullback partners, which has been the case in Martinelli's scenario nowadays with Zincheko playing behind him.

Who should you start if you were Mikel?
