Ferdinand Omanyala Storms Tokyo Olympics 100m Semi-finals

Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa has finished third in Men's 100 metres.He has now booked for a ticket through to semi finals as he makes history as the first Kenyan to make it to olympics semi finals in 100 metres.

Omanyala is Kenya’s first ever representative in the short distance.It took the Kenyan athlete 10.01 seconds to finish third in heat five.

Ferdinand Omanyala shattered his own national record to qualify for the Tokyo olympic games.

The race was won by Canadian nationalist Andre De Grasse,while Fred Kerley of the United States of America came second.

Another Kenyan Mark Otieno was dropped from the squad after his sample turned a positive test for a banned substance.Otieno who is Omanyala's team mate is waiting for the results of sample B test to know his fate.

The top three athletes from each of the seven heats automatically qualifies for the semi finals as well as three athletes with the fastest times.
