After a disappointing defeat to Manchester United last weekend, Asernal bounced back with a 2-1 victory to kickstart their Europa League campaign with positive vibes. Goals from Nketiah and Marquinhos sealed the victory. However, it wasn't a convincing performance from Asernal at Zurich, but a win is a win.
Arteta fielded a highly rotated squad featuring the debutant Marquinhos to get the work done. The Brazilian had a brilliant start, and he was heavily involved in both Asernal's goals, though he gave away not long before half-time.
Marquinhos scored the opening goal with an emphatic finish from Nketiah's cross. He would go on to be the provider for Eddie Nketiah's match-winning goal in the second half. Nketiah and Marquinhos had better understanding in the match, and they showed real attacking intent, giving Zurich defenders a tough night.
Asernal' s future as club is secure with such young talents who can produce results when needed. Marquinhos showed his real quality, and he will be challenging the Saka for a starting spot in the team.
The Brazilian winger is still learning, and he need the trust and confidence from the coach. With injuries and other mitigating risks arising, Arteta will soon be presenting opportunities to the young talents. This, however, should not worry him because he is assured of quality as high as possible from the young and rejuvenated players.
