Arsenal directors have been taken aback by Willian’s decision to forego over €20 Million from Arsenal by tearing his contract with the North London-based club to join Brazilian club Corinthians. Rumor has it that Willian wants to leave England with his dignity intact since many players in the contemporary football world are more worried about the money than the passion to play football.
Willian is set to join Corinthians on a free transfer on Monday since he has already agreed on personal terms with the Brazilian club. Willian will be going back to the club where he started his football career and hopefully where he will end it because age has been keeping a toll on him in recent years. Arsenal nonetheless wished Willian the best of luck in his new endeavors in Brazil.
Ian Wright has rightly criticized Arsenal for loaning out William Saliba who is doing commendable work in France as a loanee while Arsenal is struggling to keep a clean sheet. Wright said that loaning out Saliba and keeping the likes of Chambers and Saed Kolasinac is ironic because both players have been at Arsenal for a very long time and they are yet to prove to the world that they are world-class defenders.
Wright said that Saliba must have felt betrayed by Arteta because he was traded for a player who isn’t even playing for the team at the moment (Ben White). He added by saying that Ben White who should have been holding Arsenal’s defense together is nowhere to be seen because he is recovering from Coronavirus. He finished by saying that Arsenal need to work smart in the future and avoid repeating the mistake which was done on Saliba.
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola fiercely defended Mikel Arteta after yesterday’s punishing result at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola said that Arsenal’s board and fans should give Mikel Arteta time so that he can regroup and analyze the mistakes the squad made in yesterday’s match. Guardiola said that facing Chelsea and Manchester City within a week was too much of a difficult task and fans should be understanding of Arteta’s tough situation.
