Granit Xhaka’s injury has hampered Arsenal’s progress in the league and the weight of his absence has been set on the shoulders of Mikel Arteta who has now been forced to do a lot of head-scratching and improvising. Xhaka, who plays as the anchorman for the Gunners, was very instrumental in Arteta’s squad because he provided stability at the defense.
Although Sambi Lokonga has taken his place temporarily in the first team squad, fans are unsure whether the young Belgian will live up to the quality of Granit Xhaka in the left-wing. Lokonga is a very good central midfielder but he is yet to fully adapt to the new league. Thomas Partey now has more responsibilities offensively and defensively as he tries to coax Lokonga into the midfield department.
Arsenal’s star striker Folarin Balogun is making quite the mark in Premier League 2. Last month he scored 7 goals and made four assists which earned him the nomination of last Month's Player of the Month award. The 20-year-old is expected to make a few more appearances for the Senior team in Arsenal and pundits have predicted that he will be a huge asset for Mikel Arteta.
Balogun has a four-year contract with Arsenal and Mikel Arteta has shown considerable interest in involving him in the first team as was witnessed when he started the young player against Brentford in the opening match of the new season. Although he did not score, Arteta praised Balogun’s work rate and added that he had seen a lot of potential in the young striker. Going forward, fans expect Balogun to be a regular selection for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Arsenal defender Ben White is looking forward to playing against Ballon D’or contender Cristiano Ronaldo in the English Premier League. White admitted that he was a loyal fan of the 35-year-old and he can’t wait to face him when Arsenal play against Manchester United later in the year. White’s involvement in the game is definitely assured because his recent performances have caught the eye of Mikel Arteta.
