The summer transfer window is open and several players have left Chelsea, including Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Other players are also expected to part ways with the Blues, the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Departure of the above players will leave some jersey numbers empty and there could be a change for those who will remain and the new signings. Let's look at some of the possible squad number changes for the Blues next season;
JERSEY NUMBER 2
This shirt number is currently unoccupied as the holder Antonio Rudiger has been announced as the new Real Madrid player.
The most favorite person to take this shirt number could be right back Reece James who is currently wearing jersey 24. This could fit him well as a full back.
Andreas Christensen who has been wearing this jersey has also left the club to Barcelona and this means it is now empty.
Jules Kounde who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge from Sevilla could possibly take this iconic jersey number if a deal for him is sealed.
Romelu Lukaku was given this jersey as he signed for Chelsea from Inter Milan. However, there are possibilities that he could return to Inter Milan after having a bad season with Chelsea.
If he leaves, this shirt number could be taken by Kai Havertz who has been operating as the club's striker.
RB Leipzig center back Josko Gvardiol is another player who Thomas Tuchel wants at Stamford Bridge. If Chelsea signs him, they could possibly give him this jersey number which is not bad for a defender.
