Rumor has it that Chelsea are close to agreeing on a deal with Danish Center back Andreas Christensen over a new long-term contract. It is believed that the necessary paperwork have already been prepared and it is only a matter of appending signatures by the involved parties. Christensen is expected to earn a substantial salary increase after signing the new contract and this will place him among the most paid defenders in the English Premier League.
Christensen is a product of Chelsea’s Academy and his performances are manifestations of how well players are trained in the Cobham Academy. Other players who have taken center stage in football from the Cobham Academy are Mason Mount, Jamal Musiala, Tammy Abraham, and Trevoh Chalobah.
Romelu Lukaku recently picked up an injury with the Belgium National team and this has been a major cause of worry to the Chelsea fans and technical bench alike. The muscular injury the Belgian behemoth picked up has not been fully assessed but Thomas Tuchel said that what he heard from the medical team was not positive. Timo Werner is expected to take the steering wheel of the frontline and his abject form gives fans no reassurance that he will deliver this season.
Lukaku nonetheless sent a short 14-second video to the fans informing them that he had already started his rehabilitation and will be back on the pitch very soon. He added that he had full confidence in the medical team who he hopes will guide him towards a quick recovery.
Chilwell is slowly finding his way back to the Chelsea squad and his goal against Andorra for England will definitely add him bonus points over Marcos Alonso. Chilwell had been warming the bench for quite some while and fans were worried that maybe he had a fallout with Thomas Tuchel. Going by his recent performance against Andorran, Chelsea fans hope that Thomas Tuchel will take note of the 23-year-old’s improvement and reward him accordingly with game time.
