Kenyan marathon runner and record holder Mary Keitany has finally announced her retirement.

Mary Keitany who is 39 years old made the decision after having a back injury making her unfit for the race.

She is a Kenyan marathon legend holding 8 titles in world marathon. Keitany is a world record holder for women only marathon with a record time of 2:17:01.

The legend also holds four New York marathon titles, three London marathon titles, World Half Marathon Championship and World Half Marathon team title.

Netizens celebrated her on Facebook and went ahead to wish her all the best in life and also a speedy recovery.
