Shocking news has just reached our desks a few moments ago as one of champions of Kenya in long distance races has been found dead in her house.

Agnes Tirop was among the champions at the just concluded Tokyo Olympics where she shone and won in the races.

She is said to have been found dead in her house this afternoon with multiple stab wounds to the body.

It's unclear as to who could have committed the heinous crime of killing a champion who was still at the top of her game.

Agnes Tirop was found dead in her house in Iten, found in Elegeyo Marakwet County this afternoon.

She represented Kenya in the women's 5,000 meter races at the Olympics where she excelled well.

This is the second champion to have died in Kenya under unclear circumstances as a few years back, a runner by the name Wanjiru also died.

We extend our condolences to her family as well as Kenyans at large who enjoyed watching her races at the Olympics.
