The Controversial Manchester Derby Goal

The controversial Manchester Debby Goal.

The great Manchester derby was held on 13th Jan 2023. The was great hope that the game would end in favor of the city but that wasn’t the case as the former Sir Alex Ferguson boys proved the world wrong. The first half was a really tough game for both side as each side had a strong defense leading to a nil-nil draw.

The second half was the most interesting part as city had their first goal in the 64th minute. United responded with two goals within a span of three minutes and won the day. However, every football pundit claims that the first goal for united was an offside one.

Looking into the offside offence law 11 which state that a player is in an offside position if: any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents' half (excluding the halfway line) and. any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent. Going by the rule its clearly prove that the Goal wasn’t suppose to stand. Nevertheless, United were awarded the goal by the V.A.R officials.
