Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest football managers the football world has ever seen. The Portuguese international is one of the managers who is known for his good relationship with his players. During his career as a manager, Jose Mourinho has managed some of the best players in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Diego Milito, Samuel Etoo, Paul Pogba and Didier Drogba among others. He has won so many trophies with different clubs as well as numerous individual awards due to his excellent tactics as a manager.
While speaking during an interview with BBC Sports, Jose Mourinho revealed the African footballer who really impressed him. According to Jose Mourinho, the legendary Samuel Etoo was one of the best footballers during his days. Jose Mourinho praised Etoo saying that he could have won the Ballon Dior award at least once during his soccer days. Jose Mourinho who worked with Etoo at Inter Milan and then at Chelsea believes that Samuel Etoo was far more than an ordinary player; he was a true talent.
Jose Mourinho told BBC Sports:
"It's difficult to understand how Samuel Etoo never won the Ballon Dior with the impressive career he had. Samuel played for the best teams in the world. He scored an incredible amount of goals and was successful in different leagues. He played three Champions League finals, winning two with Barcelona and scoring in both finals.
He also won one Champions League at Inter and won many league titles. He was the best striker in the world for several years and I think he deserved a Ballon Dior but these are things out of control."
Well, it is arguable that Samuel Etoo will go down in history as one of the best strikers the football world has ever seen. He won the African Footballer of the Year award four times which is very impressive. The currently 40 years old retired in 2019 after playing for different European clubs including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Everton among others. Samuel Etoo won so many trophies during his career including the prestigious UEFA Champions League three times.
