World Half Marathon was held inTurkey on April 4th termed as N Kolay Instabul Half Marathon.
It was a thrilling experience as our very own Ruth Chepngetich smashed the world record previously set by Ababel Yeshaneh on February 20th at a world record set in Ras Al Khaimah UAE.
Hellen was dropped behind Chepngetich with a gap of 5km while Yehualaw was 2km behind Reigning champion.
The 26-year-old broke the world record in 1:04:02 making the new World Record from Ababel's previous of 64:31
Hellen Obiri finished third with 64:51 while Yehualaw was second with 64:40.
The world champion had this to say; "Iam really happy with this amazing result, the world record is something I have been dreaming about for sometime and now am so happy to do it on the streets of Instabul."
On the other hand on Men's marathon our able Kenyan Kibiwott Kandie brought the title home in just 59:35 time frame, Kandie managed to put clear Geoffrey Kamworor with 12 minutes gap behind to finish the race 1st while Roncer Kipkorir taking 3rd place.
