Rahim Sterling left his England squad in Qatar to go back home and attend to family matters. This came as a shocker to most England supporters who at the time did not understand him. However, it became clear later that his home had been broken into on Saturday night, and therefore, as a concerned husband and father, he had to go and be with his family at that frightening time.
According to reports, England supporters are expressing concerns as to whether Rahim will go back to the squad or not. Gareth Southgate addressed the matter by stating that the most important thing was for Rahim to be with his family at that stressing time, and that he had allowed him all the time that he needed because sometimes football is not the most important thing. This was a good move by the English manager who understood that Rahim could not play well with psychological disturbances.
The question from most supporters continues to be whether he will return to the squad because his contributions in the team is highly appreciated. Well, the answer to this is that as soon as Rahim Sterling feels that he is comfortable and in a stable condition psychologically, he will be allowed to join his team again in Qatar. This far, Rahim has scored 20 goals in 81 caps for his country. In case he doesn’t return, Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka will fill for him because they are all forwards. Rahim was dearly missed by his team in their win against African champions, Senegal.
