Two AFCON Giant Teams Who Are On The Verge Of Being Knocked Out In Group Stages.

It is true to say the only part that we still witness live miracles in, is the world of football. Things that happen in soccer are very opposite. This year's African Cup of Nations has already given us enough surprise very early. Great and giant teams are being taught how to play soccer. Unknown teams with mere local players are doing wonders. Experienced players who play in top leagues in Europe are getting nightmares.

1. Algeria.

The holding champions Algeria is still clinging to the wreckage and almost falling. After being outshined by Equatorial Guinea in their 1 nil loss, they are staring at the axe. They displayed a poor performance with reference to the depth of their squad and experience in this tournament. Their great players like Riyad Mahrez were nowhere to salvage the team.

They are now the last in their group, with only one embarrassing point. This is not the team we saw in the last 2019 AFCON. There is no confidence in it. There is no hard work and team spirit. They risk matching out of the competition as their next match will be against the group leaders Ivory coast. They must win and pray that Equatorial Guinea and Sierra leone draw their match. They also have to win with 3 goals and above.

2. Ghana.

The four-times AFCON winners and the third most successful team in the continent are also at risk of being eliminated in the group stages. Ghana was one of the teams that were tipped to be in the semi-finals or finals. However, tension is cropping due to poor performance.

After their two opening group games, they are the second last in the group with one point. Morocco leads with 6 points and is followed by Gabon with 4 points. Their chances of proceeding are so minimal. They will take on Comoros in their last group game on Tuesday. They must win with 3 goals and above and pray that Morocco beat Gabon. If Morocco and Gabon draw, then they will be out of the tournament unless they proceed as the best runners-up.
