Chelsea and Spurs Managers Declare War on Each Other as Spurs Seek Revenge for Carabao Cup Exit

On Sunday, Chelsea will be facing a tough and in-form opponent in the form of Tottenham Hotspurs at Stamford Bridge. Antonio Conte will be seeking to retaliate against the double defeat in the Carabao semi-final cup tie on Chelsea’s home turf and if Spurs win away, it will not only cripple Chelsea’s top-four race but also deliver a big blow to the pride of the West London club. Tottenham recently inspired a late come comeback against Leicester City and won 3-2 after an injury-time double by sensational substitute Steven Bergwijn.

Chelsea on the other hand only managed to secure a point against their latest rivals, Brighton, despite dominating all aspects of the game. Brighton were luckily very clinical with the rare chance they got and managed to hold out Chelsea from scoring another goal for the next half an hour or so.

Thomas Tuchel in today’s pre-match interview has said that the club now has to be more perceptive than ever because Tottenham will be very aggressive and eager to get a win in order to bridge the gap between them and the top three. He said that Antonio Conte has done a marvelous job in turning things around without hardly making a transfer into the club and that speaks a lot about his tactical knowledge. He nonetheless said that his team is adequately prepared and they will fight for the three points as if it was the last match in the world.

Antonio Conte on the other hand has said that following the unfortunate defeats to Chelsea earlier in the month, his team has had a chance to reflect on their earlier mistakes and he has personally seen to it that everyone who had a role in the defeat has learned a thing or two about improving themselves. He also said that nothing will be left to chance and any chance that will come Tottenham’s way will be utilized to great effect.

“Chelsea are a very strong team and they were able to defeat us in both legs of the Carabao Cup. We had time to review our past mistakes in the two matches and every mistake spotted has been addressed in training. We will give our best and convert as many chances as we can get on Sunday.”
