According to the latest reports, Granit Xhaka has finally put pen to paper on his new contract at Arsenal. Xhaka has now committed four years to Arsenal and rumor has it that a one extension option has been included in the deal.
Xhaka was recently linked with a move to AS Roma but Arsenal made a U-turn in the negotiations after the Italian giants failed to meet Arsenal’s transfer fee demands. Xhaka was of the idea of signing a new contract because Mikel Arteta told him that he still has a place reserved for him in the Arsenal squad. He has also been touted to be the next Arsenal captain if Aubameyang chooses to abdicate his position.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Watford have shown interest in signing Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Mohammed Elneny on a permanent deal. Romano however mentioned that they have not submitted a bid for Elneny but there is genuine interest in signing the player.
Arsenal currently have four defensive midfielders- Xhaka, Partey, Lokonga and Elneny and it wouldn’t really hurt to offload Elneny because Ainsley Maitland Niles can also play in that same position. Elneny is reported to be flattered by the rumors but he would rather stay at Arsenal because he wants to fight for a position in Arteta’s squad. The next few days will nonetheless be very crucial for Elneny’s career.
Fans and journalists have castigated the malicious comments that have been directed at Edu’s 14 year old daughter on Instagram. After Arsenal’s dreadful defeat to Chelsea, fans stormed into Edu’s daughter’s instagram post where they made threats and hurled insults at her and her father. Since then she has limited the number of people who are commenting on her posts.
